Violence

Dear Aarush and Aayra,

Violence is a physical force intended to hurt and damage. This is what written in the dictionary I have at home. This really kept me thinking, being a mom is exciting, it is great, there are so many things that can be listed that how amazing it is to be your mom. But I want to admit that it is not easy. We are now living in a world where there are so many expectations and ideals associated with a single word. Being a mom is not only a mom. Being a dad is not only being a dad. Everything is complex. If you try to make a map of connections it will a spider's web for sure. With all the pressure; trying to be a perfect mother, a perfect guide, a perfect person we all end up doing a lot of mistakes. Sometimes I feel that there are a lot of mistakes I did for which I am still trying to forgive myself, among these, I have no shame to admit that a few times I lost my temper with you and slapped you. Because this is what we have grown up with whether its a TV series, any Bollywood movie, our teachers, even our parents we have seen that it's ok! to slap your kid if they misbehave. Parents have a right. But gradually I realized it is the worst thing I imitated in my life. This too is an act of violence, it doesn't matter that my intentions were not to hurt or damage you but I think on some unseen level it did. And I am really sorry about this. I am trying and will promise that it won't repeat again ever. This is the only act of violence I this I did so far other than fighting with my big brother when we were kids. Oh common! it sounded like I did it like so many times, Yes! it sounded that heavy but I assure you that is not the case but still, it won't repeat. Now, coming to the point, violence is definitely not something that should be accepted. There are different types of violence, some of them are:

  • Economic violence
  • Political violence
  • Sexual or gender violence
  • Domestic violence
  • Cultural violence
  • Religious violence
  • Information violence
  • Violence by cyberbullying
  • Violence as per the act of terrorism

These types of violence can be observed easily near you. Witnessing is also kind of accepting it. I know in today's time it is difficult to act immediately but something should be done to stop these acts permanently. There is no parameter to find out the degree of violence because it is very difficult to find out how much a certain act harm or affect a human bearing it. Few damages cannot be seen or felt by anyone other than the person himself. The person who faced child molestation can't tell you how hurt he/she is. We should all fight against violence. Violence in any form cannot easily eradicate, it takes an army but if everyone does their bit it creates one. Do your bit. Help others too. We will surely get a better future.

Good Luck!!
