Mistakes - Let's Learn

Dear Aarush and Aayra,

As parents, we always tell our kids not to make mistakes. No matter if you are very young, simply writing alphabets or you are an eight standard maths student, doing silly mistakes. By saying don't do it, I think we maybe not fair to you. At a very young age sometimes things run like this. These things could be a way to teach young kids. But gradually while our kids growing up we need to change our statements. We need to tell you that IT'S OK! and you need to understand that yes, it's ok to make mistakes.

A greatest mistake a man can ever make is to be afraid of making one
-Elbert Hubbard

Your mistakes will not going to define you but the learning from your mistakes does. You are a kid learning the responsibility of being an adult. In this process, these mistakes can help you build up your personality. Mistakes are not always bad, mistakes help us:

  • to learn
  • gain knowledge
  • by triggering our creativity
  • to be courageous
  • teach about humanity
  • makes us wiser
  • to experiment
  • to reflect and understand ourselves better
  • learn outside books
  • reboot our motivation
  • to be free from our fears

I think now I can say mistakes are fine. But please learn from your mistakes. Whenever something happens and you realize you made a mistake, please accept it. Then tell yourself:

  • let's try this another way
  • keep trying don't give up
  • it's ok
  • I am just a bit confused i will do it
  • let's ask for help, its not bad

Learning from your mistakes is very important. This learning can be termed as experience in life. Mistakes are necessary for change and this change can only be brought with learning. This learning will take you to a new discovery. Mistakes only tell you that things can be much better and learning makes them better.
Let us make mistakes together and learn from it.

Good Luck!!

  1. Interesting post. We must let the kids make mistakes and encourage them to learn and not tell them off
